LAHORE: Loadshedding duration is touching 12 to 14 hours in urban and rural areas including Lahore.

The Lesco and other power distribution companies were compelled to conduct hours-long power cuts in its limits on Sunday, after sudden increase in electricity demand due to scorching heat and humid weather. “Lesco is facing 50 percent gap between demand and supply. The power distribution company is conducting two to three hours persisting cuts even at some city feeders,” said sources.

The other Discos are also left with no option but to conduct 14-hour outages in Ramazan. The tripping and continued outages have become a matter of routine, they added. The surge in electricity demand is due to hot and humid weather and only nature could provide relief to the faithful, held officials of the power sector.–Staff Reporter
