Two shopkeepers shot dead in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi - Two shopkeepers were killed in firing of armed men here on Sunday. The assailants managed to escape from the scene.
Police said that armed men opened indiscriminate fire at two persons in Transformer Chowk area, Sadiqabad police station jurisdiction in Rawalpindi killing them on the spot.
The attackers managed to flee after committing the dual murder. Bodies of the deceased shopkeepers identified as Rehman Akbar and Naveed were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Police said that the incident seems to be outcome of personal grudge, however, a case has been registered against the murderers and investigation was in progress.
Meanwhile, police have arrested 37 gamblers and recovered Rs 332,000 cash stake money, 33 mobile phones and other items from their possession.
According to details, Race Course police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid in Dhoke Syedan area in its jurisdiction and held seven gamblers namely Zulfiqar, Nisar, Fahad, Khurram and others who were allegedly involved in betting while playing cards.
Police recovered Rs 220,000 cash stake money, seven mobile phones and other items and registered a case against them.
Waris Khan Police raided in Dhoke Khabba area and netted 14 gamblers identified as Rais, Banaras, Rafique, Abbas, Rizwan, Riaz and others and recovered Rs 75,000 cash stake money and nine mobile phones.
