11 gamblers among 27 lawbreakers rounded up

rawalpindi - Police have arrested 11 gamblers and recovered Rs 4,230 stake money, eight mobile phones and two motorcycles from their possession.

According to a police spokesman, Sadiqabad police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid in Madni Masjid, Shakrial area in its jurisdiction and arrested 11 gamblers namely Atisham Shah, Asad Hussain, Waqar Nisar and other who were allegedly involved in betting while playing cards. Police also recovered 4230 cash stake money, eight mobile phones and two motorcycles.

Meanwhile, police under an ongoing drive against anti-social elements have rounded up 16 lawbreakers, including three one-wheelers and four suspected dacoits besides recovering 5110 grams hashish, five 30-bore pistols with 19 rounds and one 12-bore rifle from the possession of arrested accused, said a police spokesman on Tuesday. He said Pirwadhai police held Bilal for having 710 grams hashish. Naseerabad police netted Jamshaid and recovered 2200 grams hashish while Jahat Hussain was also sent behind the bars for carrying 2200 grams hashish.

Westridge police nabbed Imran for possessing an illegal 30-bore pistol. Rizwan Ali, Khan Zaman, Fazal Hussain, Muhammad Naeem, Faisal Shehraz and Taj Muhammad were rounded up for having illegal weapons. New Town police apprehended three one-wheelers identified as Suni, Hassan and Shoaib.

Meanwhile, RA Bazaar police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid at Cantonment Park in its jurisdiction and apprehended four suspected dacoits namely Nazar Hussain, Danish Ali, Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Shabir. Police also recovered a 30-bore pistol with 14 rounds.
