KARACHI - The President of the KTTA Javed Chotani has announced that a two-month long training and coaching camp for upcoming junior talent would be organised here from June 10 at Islamia Club. He made the announcement at a media briefing held here Thursday noon at Karachi Club in the presence of the president PTTF S.M.Sibtain, chairman KTTA Farhan Essa and secretary KTTA Shaukat Omari. He said 24 boys and same number of girls would be selected to attend the camp, which will be supervised by former international Arif Khan assisted by former international Arif Nakhuda and his wife former international Rubeena Nakhuda. He said boys and girls between the age of 12 and 16 would be selected for the camp. In case bigger number of players were interested in the camp a selection trials would be held to retain only the agreed number of players at the camp. He said the KTTA was planning to hold at least six inter-firm competitions in the remaining part of the year and added he would approach local companies and multinational firms to hire at least three TT players so that they could raise a team. If the companies employ players and raise teams it would help solve problem of employment that the promising players usually face. KESC he said would hold first inter-firm competition some time in August. He hoped that prominent TT clubs like Sharfabad, Amroha and others would continue to hold their annual competitions. He disclosed that Essa Laboratories of Dr. Farhan Essa was planning to hold an all Pakistan event this year. Doyen of Pakistan's table tennis S.M.Sibtain on the occasion announced that Habib Public School gymnasium had been selected to host the South Asian junior individual and team championships. Seven countries of the region had been invited to send teams and the last date of entry is June 15. Competitions in ten events will be held during the three-day event from July 9-11.The participating countries had been advised to restrict entries in various events so that all the participants had a chance to win honors. He said Pakistan would send the team in the Commonwealth Youth Games, which would be held in the Indian city of Pune in October.
