LAHORE - CCPO Ch Shafiq Ahmed has directed police to ensure implementation of the ban on kite flying and warned that SHO, SPO as well as Divisional SP will be responsible in case of complaint of kite flying in any area.
He was presiding over a joint meeting of operations and investigation about security arrangements for Ramazanul Mubarak and crime situation in the city at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh on Thursday, said a press release. 
He said the killings in custody and escape of criminals from police stations, and courts will be intolerable. He directed all divisional SPs to prepare the list of sensitive mosques, Imam Bargahs, places of worship as well as important religion personalities of their respected division and formulate recommendations regarding their foolproof security.  He said that indiscriminate action will be taken against SHO and SDPO in case of complaints of gambling and narcotics in the area of any police station.
DIG Investigation Zulfiqar Hameed, DIG Operations Rana Abdul Jabbar, SSP Admin Rana Shahzad Akbar as well as other senior officers were also present. The CCPO said that protection of life and priority of the people is the prime responsibility of police, and therefore, all SPs should regularly check police officials patrolling the crime affected areas on vehicles and motorcycles in their respective divisions as well as personally visit the site of any dacoity.
He said that patrolling by police officials on motorcycles in narrow streets along with big highways should be ensured by all SHOs in order to root out crime.
The CCPO while giving instructions for formulating the security plan for Mosques and Imam Bargahs during Ramazanul Mubarak, said that foolproof security at mosques and imam bargahs be ensured.
He said that they should also identify crime pockets in their divisions so that due attention be paid to them. He issued instructions to SP Headquarters to regularly check police lock ups in courts and an effective strategy be adopted while shifting prisoners to courts. He said that killings in police custody or escape of prisoners will not be tolerated and stern action be taken against the police officials involved. He further directed that police officials in plain clothes be deputed at trade centers, shopping malls and outside ATM machines during peak hours of crime. He said that mobile pickets be set up in the areas of high crime rate so that criminals involved in street crime on motorcycles could be brought to justice.
