MULTAN - Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) President Khalid Khokhar on Sunday welcomed the budget presented by the federal government, terming it a pro-farmer budget.

“The farmers-friendly budget would surely help raise the agriculture sector and improve financial condition of peasants,” he said while addressing a press conference here. He lauded remarkable reduction in electricity tariffs for agriculture tube-wells, withdrawal of sales tax and huge cut in prices of fertilisers.

He thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Bosan for paying special attention to the agriculture sector.
