Islamabad - The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected teachers’ representatives was held here yesterday.

Malik Ameer Khan-led United Teachers Forum has swept the elections for the Federal Government Teachers Association for the two-year term, 2016-18.

Speaking on the occasion, newly elected president Federal Government Teachers Association Malik Ameer Khan thanked voters for reposing confidence in his panel and said he would strive to live up to their expectations.

He said his panel would form a committee consisting of the representatives of the FG teaching community to suggest ways and means for the early resolution of their problems.

Vice-President Malik Khizar, who has been elected on the same post for the fourth consecutive time, vowed to work hard for resolution of teachers’ problems. He said he would ensure the payment of house allowance along with salary to FG teachers, formulation of service rules for SST cadre, and turning of the time-scale formula more applicable.

Earlier, Malik Ameer Khan was elected last week as the new president of the association, which has more than 7,000 teachers of Islamabad Capital Territory’s government educational institutions as members.
