GUJRAT-The University of Gujrat (UoG) yesterday signed agreements with 15 teams of young entrepreneurs of Business Incubation Centre (BIC) at a ceremony here at Hafiz Hayat Campus.

"We will continue to support you as long as we can, because you are our hope," UoG Vice Chancellor Dr Ziaul Qayyum pledged in his address after the signing ceremony.

On the occasion, BIC consultant Muhammad Haider Meraj briefed the VC and other participants about the incubation centre. The ceremony was also attended by Director ORIC Dr Mudassar, SSC Director Mohammad Yaqoob and Director Media Sheikh Abdul Rashid. Dr Zia distributed cheques among the BIC teams.

The soft-spoken VC vowed to carry out his mission not only to make the UoG a truly world-class centre of higher education, but to continue to adopt policies for Nawaz Sharif Medical College (NSMC), a UoG constituent college, so that both the institutions could better serve the community.

"My mission is to serve my country and my nation. Nothing can stop me from my duties here at UoG," said Dr Zia. He recently along with Principal of NSMC Prof. Dr Zafar Iqbal Gill and MS ABSTH worked untiringly for an increase of vacancies from 22 to 100 at the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) for doctors seeking house job.

A state-of-the-art ICU with most modern diagnostic facilities for critical patients at ABST Hospital was set up, thanks largely to his efforts.

The Business Incubation Centre (BIC), a state-of-the-art auditorium, a data centre and a multi-purpose hall have already become operational.

The entrepreneurs at BIC were provided with office space, resources, networking, seed money and mentoring. They were also provided with continuous access to funding, training and a global environment.
