Three persons died and several others were injured when powerful dust storm lashed the metropolis on Tuesday evening, rescue workers said. The deaths were reported by rescue workers in Shahdara, Pullarwan Village, and Raiwind. At least 10 people were also injured in different roof and wall collapse incidents which took place in Gujjarpura, Ghaziabad, Nishtar Colony, Raiwind, and Shalimar areas. Muhammad Farooq, a spokesman for the Rescue-1122 service said a child died and three persons were injured when the roof of a house collapsed at Pullarwan Village located near Paragon Housing Society. The injured were shifted to Services Hospital. A 58-year-old man died and three others were wounded in a building collapse near Grand Palace Marriage Hall in Shahdara. The body, not identified yet, was moved to the morgue. The injured were shifted to the Shahdara hospital on ambulances. Also, an eight-year-old boy died and two other men were injured when a building collapsed on them near Kharra Chowk in Raiwind. An official of the Edhi Foundation told The Nation that two people were injured when a tree fell on them on Canal Road, disrupting traffic flow on the busy road shortly before Iftaar. The injured were given first-aid on the spot. According rescuers, two men were injured when the roof of a house collapsed on them in Gujjarpura. Ali and Abdullah were shifted to Mayo hospital by Edhi Ambulance Service. Similarly, three persons of a family were injured when the roof of their house collapsed on them in Ghaziabad. –Staff Reporter

A passerby was injured seriously when the boundary wall of a house collapsed on him. The incident took place in Madina Colony in Shalimar. Two children were also injured in a wall collapse incident which took place in Nishtar Colony.
A rescue official said they received a large number of calls for “emergency help” from different parts of the city during the dust storm and rain on Tuesday evening.
