Thousands sit Aitekaf in city
Thousands of faithful sat Aitekaf in the city on Tuesday evening. They got space allocated for themselves at major mosques through registration. At Data Darbar mosque, 2,600 people applied for space for Aitekaf and 118 people’s applications were rejected because they were incomplete. Data Darbar Zonal Administrator Tanveer Ahmed Warraich said the Auqaf Department will take care of the faithful so that they can perform their religious obligations without any hurdle. “Apart from foolproof security, we have set up a medical camp to deal with any emergency,” he said. Badshahi Mosque’s Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad reviewed all arrangements for the people sitting Aitekaf at the mosque. Hundreds of people sat Aitekaf at Jamia Ashrafia, Jamia Naeemia and Jamia Masjid Al-Qudsia. The Minhajul Quran Movement led by Dr Tahirul Qadri has set up an Aitekaf City at its Model Town Secretariat where thousands of people sat Aitekaf on Tuesday. CTO unveils traffic plan for Youm-e-Ali
City traffic police department on Tuesday unveiled a detailed plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic on roads on the eve of Youm-e-Ali (RA) to be observed today. A police spokesman said at least 522 traffic wardens including women traffic officers will be deployed on special duties along the route of the main procession. Two SP rank officers, five DSPs, and 46 inspectors will also supervise the traffic control and management plan. The vehicular traffic will be diverted to alternative routes from different points along the course of the main procession. A large number of wardens will be deployed at these diversion points to ensure smooth flow of traffic. According to police, the main Youm-e-Ali procession will appear from walled city and pass through Akbari Gate, Mubarak Haveli, Chowk Nawab Sahib, Bazaar Mochi Gate, Laal Kho, Mughal Haveli, Takia Nathay Shah, Chowk Nawab Sahib, Chhota Mufti Baqir, Purani Kotwali, Chowk Nogaza, Chowk Taranam, Chowk Tibbi, Bazaar Hakeema, Onchi Masjid, PS Bhatti Gate, Bhatti Gate and Chowk Bhatti before culminating at Karbala Gamay Shah. Citizens can park their cars and motorcycles at Nasir Bagh, Deputy Commissioner Office, Mochi Gate Bagh, Data Darbar Eye Hospital, Central Model High School, Parking D-Plaza Rang Mahal and Adda Crown. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Traffic Officer Rai Ejaz Ahmad directed the traffic wardens to keep an-eye on suspicious vehicles and persons while performing their duties in the field. “Citizens can get any further information through Rasta App, Radio FM-88.6 and Police helpline 15,” the CTO said.–Staff Reporter

The traffic diversion points on the route of the main procession will be Akbari Gate, Bagh Ali, Chuna Mandi, Shah Alam Market Chowk, Peer Makki, Mori Gate, Punj Peer, Zila Katchery, PMG Chowk, MAO College, Lady Wallington and Saggiyan.
As far as alternate routes are concerned, traffic coming from Shahdara will be diverted to the Railway Station through Azadi Flyover.
Traffic coming from inner Circular Road will be diverted towards Mori Gate, Urdu Bazaar, Chowk Cheterjee, Law College Katchery Road and Nila Gumbad.
No traffic will be allowed from Peer Makki U-turn towards lower mall. No traffic will be allowed from Katchery Chowk towards Lower Mall.
All the Public Service Vehicles coming from inner side Circular Road will be diverted towards Mayo Hospital through Shah Alam Chowk. No traffic will be allowed towards Taxali through Masti Gate, Turn Shahi Qila and Ali Park. Also, no vehicle will be allowed from Chowk Milad towards Dehli Gate, Masjid Wazir Khan.
The traffic will be restricted from Pani Wala Talab towards Rang Mahal. Traffic coming from Multan Road will be diverted towards MAO College, Sanda Road, Commissioner Office, DIG Operations outfall road. Heavy transport coming from Kasur will be diverted towards Band Road Double Sarka through LOS Chowk, Multan Road and Gulshan-e-Ravi.
