Therebut not there

The constitution of Pakistan clearly states that all minorities i.e. people belonging to a faith other than Islam, shall have the right to practice their religion freely and live their lives as they want. The incidents like beheading of Jaspal Singh by Taliban and stopping Hindus from celebrating the festival of Holi at some places bodes ill for the country and is a violation of that sacrosanct constitutional guarantee. Why have we become so intolerant to other religions is what should be put up for a national debate now. When Muslims in US and Europe are free to live their lives as they want and can celebrate festivals like Eids with great fanfare, why cannot we allow our minorities the same rights? -ZEESHAN KHAN, Islamabad, March 2.
