Islamabad - The dead body of Russian journalist, Maria Golovnina - who had died in Islamabad on February 23 - was dispatched to her home country on Thursday night.

According to the sources, the dead body has been sent to her home country after following the whole legal procedure. “It (dead body) was quietly moved to Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad in the morning on Thursday and later dispatched to her home country late in the night” said a source in the Islamabad police.   

Maria had met a sudden death in the capital on February 23 which also triggered a controversy about cause of her death. A team of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) doctors had later performed forensic autopsy on the deceased Reuters’ Bureau Chief for Pakistan and Afghanistan and the report is still awaited. There was no obvious cause of death, however, the medical team had found her nails, lips and neck turned bluish.
