LAHORE - A special judge yesterday ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to auction the property of Asim Malik and his wife, owners of a visa consultancy, for the repayment of money they plundered from citizens.

The judge ordered the FIA to auction 102 kanal property of the accused in Bhalwal, and return the money to the affected people. They court adjourned further hearing for March 19.

In another matter, the LHC was moved against participation of PML-N proposed mayor of Lahore Kh Ahmad Hassaan in different officials meetings of the district government. Muhammad Azhar Siddique submitted that Mr Hassaan was only an elected member of Union Council 107 but was heading the official meetings for which only the mayor was authorized. He further stated that a petition against election of Kh Hassaan for UC 107 was pending yet he was holding meetings as de-facto mayor. “It is a clear violation the constitution and also burden on the public exchequer,” the petitioner added.

He requested the court to restrain the Kh Hassaan from attending the official meetings. Mr Siddique also requested to call record of expenditures incurred on his meetings.
