ISLAMABAD - Secretary Environment Kamran Lashari has said that the we have planned to establish environment clubs in the schools to motivate the students to participate in environmental awareness activities. He expressed these views while inaugurating the three Days Teachers Training workshop organised by the project Environmental Education in School through Roaming Teachers of the Ministry of Environment in collaboration with Water Aid here at the Ministry here on Tuesday. The objective of the workshop is to impart environmental training to the School teacher regarding environmental issues so that they may better inculcate the awareness in school children. The teacher from 56 Federal Government Schools are participating in the workshop. While speaking at the occasion he said that children are the agent of change, therefore we are aiming to involve school children for raising awareness on environmental issues. He further informed that that Environment Clubs would be initially being established in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) schools and the venture would be replicated in other areas of the country. Lashari said that Ministry of environment has devised a plan to give Green Awards to the schools showing good performance for environmental awareness and environmental conservation. He also informed that 20 best schools would be selected through competition among all the Islamabad schools.
