LAHORE - The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Tuesday became the first Chamber in the country that has a full-fledged banking facility for its members within its premises. Now all the membership-related transactions would be carried out through the banking channel against the previous practice when the LCCI Membership Department was responsible for maintaining cash and data of enrolled members. The epoch-making initiative was taken by the present LCCI management including its President Mian Muzaffar Ali, Senior Vice President Tahir Javaid Malik and Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh. General Manager UBL Central Cluster Khurram Hussain, Regional Business Head Shahzad Iqbal and UBL Customer Service Head Zafar A Chaudhry also spoke on the occasion. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali said that since the very beginning of his tenure he was striving for the establishment of a banking counter in the LCCI Membership Department and the management and the Executive Committee of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry is thankful to the management of the UBL for materialising the idea. I have always been of the opinion that no institution can ever grow with desired speed until and unless it has all the systems in vogue well in place and thats why the LCCI management took the decision to introduce a complete banking facility for its members. This was our long-awaited desire to open a separate bank-booth inside our membership department in view of the increasing number of LCCI members. Presently, we have a membership of more than 16,000 members from trade and industry and are Pakistans first ISO Certified Chamber. The LCCI President said that the existing strength and further growing figures of members often pushed the LCCI management to establish a system that could not only help them in their daily business matters but save their time as well. In order to keep the momentum of good business environment going, it is absolutely necessary that the process of information and management is continued and the problems being faced by the entrepreneurs are studied and removed. Now the LCCI members would enjoy more facilitation from UBL and this new set-up would resultantly develop a permanent and a stronger liaison between the Lahore Chamber and the United Bank Limited. Speaking on the occasion, General Manager UBL Central Cluster Khurram Hussain said that the opening of the banking facility at LCCI would help save the precious time of the business community as from now onwards they would be able to get benefit of the online services of the bank. Earler, the LCCI President Mian Muzaffar Ali, Senior Vice President Tahir Javed Malik, Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and General Manager UBL Central Cluster Khurram Hussain jointly inaugurated the UBL branch at the LCCI.
