BAHAWALPUR -IUB/GSCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar held a meeting with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar.

On the occasion, they discussed important issues relevant to higher education in Southern Punjab besides briefing on the upcoming convocation at the IUB being held on May 12.

The governor asked the VC to prepare a concept note regarding elevation of education standards in the Punjab. He appreciated efforts rendered by Dr Mukhtar for uplifting higher education in the southern Punjab.

On the occasion, the VC informed the governor that according to ranking released by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, the IUB was the top ranked University of southern Punjab and 2nd best in the nation as for science and technology contribution was concerned.

The Punjab Governor said that the Punjab government was committed the uplift of less developed areas like Cholistan.

Recent opening of Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was a keen interest of the government towards promoting science and technology oriented manpower in the region, he added.
