ISLAMABAD (PR): Climate change is a rapidly growing phenomenon which is mainly affecting developing countries, global cooperation and serious brainstorming necessary for its mitigation, said speakers of a seminar on “Climate Change & Politics” organized by Department of Environmental Science of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) here on Monday.
The activity was part of first round of seminars being organized by the department, on environmental issues for faculty members and students. It was attended by Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja Director General (AF&P) as chief guest while Shakeel Ahmad Ramay, Director Coordination and Compliance, Head Climate Change Study Center, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Islamabad and Sadia Shafiq Research Associate at SDPI delivered lectures on the issue.
“Every country sees climate change issue in its own perspective of interests which ultimately raises constraints in the way of an agreed global action plan for dealing with the challenges such as global warming and climate change”, said Mr. Ramay.

LCWU’s 92th founder day
LAHORE (PR): The Lahore College for Women University celebrated its 92nd Founders Day here.
In this connection, Directorate of Student Affairs arranged an event that was attended by LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoo, Secretary Lahore College Asssociates( LCA), eminent alumnae faculty staff  and others. Speaking on the occasion, VC Sabiha said: “The LCWU is moving forward with a great deal of energy to achieve its Vision 2020 and take its place as a leading women university of the world.
Dr Mansoor said that the university was providing quality education that empowers women through knowledge and skills to partake fully in the economic development of Pakistan through participation in the workforce; as well as impacts their attitudes and beliefs so as to enable them to become peaceful, tolerant and responsible citizens of the world.

Shirwani new UMT DG
LAHORE (PR): Rector UMT Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad has appointed Abid H K Shirwani as Director General of University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore. It is worth mentioning that Abid Shirwani has served ILM/UMT since day one. Acknowledging his commitment to progress and development of ILM and UMT, Dr Murad said that Abid Shirwani’s commitment has been exemplary. The prime responsibility of Abid H K Shirwani as Director General of UMT would be to establish ongoing coordination between all University Statutory Offices (USOs) as well as University Management Offices (UMOs).
