MULTAN/ MUZAFFARGARH-The Lahore High Court Multan Bench on Monday granted pre-arrest bail in a murder case till May 12 to Malik Ghulam Murtaza Khar and his nephew Malik Bilal Mustafa Khar.

The accused had filed a pre-arrest bail application in LHC Multan Bench and Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan granted the bail.

Malik Ghulam Murtaza Khar is the younger brother of former Punjab Governor Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar while Malik Bilal Khar is Mustafa Khar's son. The Kot Addu Police booked Malik Bilal Khar, Malik Ghulam Murtaza Khar and others on the charges of killing a youth Muhammad Amjad on a land dispute in Muzaffargarh on Sunday. The bereaved lodged a protest and blocked GT Road by placing the dead body on the road.

Muzaffargarh reporter adds: Eye-witnesses said that Bilal Khar resorted to indiscriminate firing in Mauza Bait Angara (Sheikh Umar), a village near Muzaffargarh, while spearheading a squatting drive to occupy disputed agrarian land his uncle Ghulam Murtaza Khar has laid claim to. "He was shooting in all directions and people were running to save their lives. Then a young man got hit. He later died in the hospital," media reports said. The death of a fellow villager at the hands of the powerful feudal lord triggered agitation in the area. As a protest the bereaved family members and local residents carried the body of the deceased all the way to GT Road and blocked it. DSP Kot Addu Muhammad Ashid Khosa said, "We have registered a murder case against five persons including Malik Ghulam Murtaza Khar, Malik Bilal Khar on the complaint of Dildar, father of the deceased.
