LAHORE - High-flying Israr Ahmed stunned top seed Farhan Zaman while spirited Amaad Fareed upset Tayyab Aslam in the 4th FMC International Men’s Squash Championship 2016 quarterfinals played here at the Punjab Squash Complex on Thursday.

In the first quarterfinal of day, Israr exhibited his prowess against top seed Farhan Zaman and thumped him 12/14, 11/13, 11/3, 11/3, 11/6 in a 59-minute enthralling encounter to seal semifinal spot.

Farhan was off to flying start and when he was about to win the first fame, Israr showed his class and leveled the match at 12-12. Farhan then utilised all his skills to win the first game 14-12. The second game was identical to the first one as Farhan once again excelled in the dying moments of the game to win it 13-11.

But against all the odds, Israr surprised all as he staged a remarkable comeback. He started playing aggressive game and outclassed Farhan completely as he won the third game 11-3 with utmost ease and continued his great form to win the fourth game with same margin of 11-3.

In the decisive game, Farhan it was high-flying Israr who outpaced his opponent 11-6 to qualify for the semifinal.

In the second quarterfinal, Farhan Mehboob outlasted Raees Khan 11/7, 11/4, 11/6 in 27 minutes. The third quarterfinal saw Waqar Mehbob routing Faraz Muhammad 11/9, 11/6 ,3/11, 11/5 in 25 minutes while in the fourth and last quarterfinal, wildcard holder Amaad Fareed stunned Tayyab Aslam 11/7, 13/11, 9/11, 7/11, 11/8 in the 86-minute long highly well-contested match. In the first semifinal, Israr Ahmed will take on Farhan Mehboob while Ammad Fareed will face Waqar Mehboob challenge in the second semifinal.
