LAHORE: Pakistan Ranger Punjab yesterday killed two smugglers and recovered heavy quantity of Indian liquor from their possession in Hair Kothi Lahore area. 

Spokesman for Rangers said that during late hours of Wednesday night Rangers troops observed four individuals moving towards Pakistan territory from Indian side.  

The Rangers jawan challenged them to stop for identification but they opened fire on the Rangers personnel and tried to flee. In retaliation, two smugglers were killed, whereas other two managed to escape.  

 During search of the area, seven cartons of Indian liquor recovered from the site. Case has been registered with the local police station. Efforts are in hand to apprehend the other accomplices of smugglers and bust their network.  

Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Major General Umar Farooq Burki appreciated the efforts of troops on their quick response to thwart the nefarious trade of smuggling and reiterated to use all resources to stop cross border illegal activity.–Staff Reporter
