At least nine people were killed and an undetermined number still missing after a motorboat capsized in bad weather off the central Philippine island of Iloilo, the coast guard said Thursday. The motorboat left the coastal town of Concepcion, bound for a nearby island when it capsized, said local coast guard chief Captain Eduardo Fabricante. He said the coast guard still had to determine the type of boat or why it was allowed to sail despite a tropical storm warning being in force, due to a tropical depression over the central Philippines.
