Our businesses have been ruined; our shops destroyed, kiosks burnt and homes razed. Our power supply is cut off, food not available, even our infants are without milk. The schools and colleges of our children are bombed out, their teachers rendered jobless. Our people are stranded in their own land with nowhere to go. A huge number has been forced to migrate, often bare-footed. Life in our cities, towns and villages has come to a halt. Look at us; we are the unfortunate people of Swat. -ALYA ALVI, Rawalpindi, via e-mail, October 25.
