LAHORE - An Accountability Court on Friday extended 15-day physical remand of employees of Postal Department Sialkot M Razzaq and Naeem Tariq accused of misappropriation in special savings accounts. As per details, the NAB authorities produced the accused persons before the court for seeking extension in their physical remand to conduct further investigation. The court accepted the NABs plea and extended the physical remand of both the accused and directed the NAB to produce them again before the court on November 20. According to case details, the NAB Punjab had arrested these two accused on the charges of misappropriation in special savings accounts. The NAB had conducted an inquiry against them on the complaint of Superintendent Postal Services, Sialkot. Preliminary investigation revealed that they were involved in misappropriation of Rs9,51,450. During their employment period 2006 to 2007, the accused persons had embezzled 10 special saving accounts in connivance with each other. Meanwhile, another accountability court on Friday also extended 15-day physical remand of Irfan Khalil, former Manager Union Bank Sialkot on the charges of misappropriation and misuse of his authority. The NAB Punjab had conducted an investigation against Irfan Khalil on a complaint filed by the management of the bank. It was revealed that the accused Irfan Khalil was posted as Manager Operation Union Bank Sialkot Cantt and was involved in misappropriation of Rs9m.
