PUNE (India) Former Pakistan captain Majid Khan is the only surviving player who has scored a century before lunch on the first days play of the Test match. The other three players were Victor Trumper, Charles Macartney and Don Bradman. Like Indias Farokh Engineer (94 runs), there may have been a few others who have narrowly missed this feat. Virender Sehwag didnt attempt to score 13 more runs before lunch on Thursday at Motera. I think Sehwag is capable of doing it and he should have done it, Majid Khan, who scored a century against New Zealand at Karachi in 1976-77, said from Lahore. The way Sehwag is playing now a days, it was not beyond his reach, Majid added. Many records have taken long time to be broken. But records are meant to be broken and I will not be surprised if my achievement is equalled by any player in future, he further added. Without naming any player in particular, Majid Khan also said, There are quite a few players who can score 100 runs before lunch. Afridi is capable of doing it but he is not an opener and no more playing Test matches now, Majid further added.
