OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A 50-year-old government employee attempted suicide owing to financial constraints here in Iqbal Town area on Saturday. Father of three, Muhammad Saleem, attempted self-immolation by sprinkling kerosene oil over him outside the headquarters of Technical Board, where he was working as a driver. He sustained serious burn injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where his condition was reported to be critical till filing of this report. The poor driver told the police that he attempted suicide because he was unable to provide garments and gifts to his kids on the occasion of Eid owing to poverty. The police have registered a case against him and are investigating. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was found murdered from old Anarkali area on early Saturday. Police said that the man, yet to be identified so far, was lying dead alongside a road near Central Exchange as they rushed to the spot. Some passersby spotted the dead body and contacted the police by phone. Police investigators said that unidentified killers strangled the man and fled away after throwing his body on the road. The police have removed the body to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
