LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed satisfaction over the excellent security measures and law and order situation in the province on Yaum-e-Ashur.

He said that law-enforcement agencies performed their duties efficiently and diligently on Yaum-e-Ashur and due to the effective steps taken by the government, law and order situation remained satisfactory. He said that administration and law-enforcement agencies effectively implemented the security plan evolved for this purpose and their efficiency has been commendable.  The chief minister further said that Provincial Cabinet Committee on Law and Order also played an exemplary role for ensuring effective monitoring and foolproof security arrangements on Yaum-e-Ashur. Shahbaz Sharif further said that Ulema played an important role in maintaining religious harmony and an atmosphere of brotherhood on this occasion and it is hoped that they will continue to display the same spirit in future as well.

Turk company to invest in Punjab: President of a prominent Turk company ENTA, Uzi Sezer, met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday and expressed interest in investment in water supply and waste water treatment projects in Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that provision of potable water to the citizens was the top priority of the government and a mega project was being launched for this purpose. He said that in the first phase, Saaf Pani Project would be started in 18 districts of the province.  “Supply of drinking water is an important responsibility of the state. The Punjab government is making rapid progress on this project which will result in availability of potable water to the citizens while job opportunities will also be created for the youth,” he added.  

Shahbaz Sharif said that water filtration plants would be set up in various districts of Punjab under a phased programme besides water supply schemes would be revived so that clean drinking water could be available to the masses. He said that Saaf Pani Project is of vital importance as it is directly linked with the human health.

The chief minister welcomed the interest shown by the Turk company in investment in Saaf Pani Project and said that a number of Turk companies are already investing in different projects in Punjab. He said that Punjab government is providing facilities to foreign investors on priority basis.  Chairperson Saaf Pani Company and MPA Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, secretaries of Planning & Development, Housing, Chief Executive Officer Saaf Pani Project and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
