Industries Dept inspector shot dead

MULTAN - A deputy chief inspector of the Industries Department was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his office on Wednesday, police said.
Ch Ghulam Haider, who hails from Khanpur, died at the spot while the killers managed to escape. The staff told the police that two persons came to the office located on District Jail Road on a car and one of them went inside while the other stayed outside. “Suddenly, we heard the sound of gunshots and then both the men fled from the office,” police quoted a worker as saying.
The body was shifted to Nishtar Hospital for autopsy. Police launched investigations to trace the killers. SHOPS GUTTED: A sudden fire gutted two paint shops in Pak Gate area. Rescue 1122 fire-fighters rushed to the spot and put out the fire after hectic efforts of three hours. Rescue 1122 sources said that short-circuit caused the fire.
 The fire-fighters prevented fire from spreading to other shops. No life loss was reported from the fire spot.
