ISLAMABAD- Supreme Court (SC) has granted permission for filing review petition in Asghar Khan Case.

Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani of SC has allowed petitioner Shahid Orakzai to file review petition in view of the facts stated in an affidavit which was submitted in Asghar Khan case.

It was said in the affidavit that former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saeed ul Zaman Siddiqui reopened Asghar Khan Case on October 12, 1999 on the plea of former DG ISI Lt Gen (Retd) Zia ul Din who informed the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about it at 1200 hrs October, 12. Upon it Nawaz Sharif had sacked Gen Pervez Musharraf. Mian Nawaz Sharif has admitted before Sindh High Court (SHC) that he had come to know about the conspiracy by army against his government through his trusted aide.

It has been further stated in affidavit court can confirm about it from Tahir Kheli former political secretary of Nawaz Sharif. The petitioner made it clear during the course of hearing which took place in chamber a day before that the decision given by former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in Asghar Khan case stands inconclusive in practical term and he has not been made party in the wake of facts stated by him. His affidavit was given the color of defamation of judiciary.

Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani said to the petitioner he can file review petition in Asghar Khan case if he wills and he has every right to proceed further as per law but his appeal to become party in the case is not workable being the case disposed off.
