LAHORE - The first phase of the four-day Tableeghi Ijtima concluded at Raiwind on Sunday with special prayers, led by Maulana Abdul Wahab, for the prosperity and solidarity of the country.

Thousands of people from different cities attended the annual event aimed at spreading the message of Islam worldwide.

Known religious scholars, including Maulana Tariq Jamil, addressed the participants and emphasised unity and brotherhood among Muslims. Various sessions were conducted by scholars during the event. A mass Nikah ceremony was organised before the final prayer. Thousands of participants in different groups left for different cities and villages for preaching religious teachings after the end of the event.  Special security arrangements were made by the law enforcement agencies to avert any eventuality. While the police were manning entry and exit points of the venue besides a security cover all around it, the internal security and administration were handled by volunteers of the Jamaat. Special trains were run for the participants coming from Karachi and other places. The LTC operated a shuttle service to facilitate the local travellers.  The second phase of the congregation will start on Thursday.
