KARACHI - Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a man for allegedly making a hoax call to Sindh High Court about the presence of an explosive device within its premises.

It is pertinent to mention here that a bomb threat that later turned out to be a hoax caused an emergency situation at the Sindh High Court premises with paramilitary forces evacuating the court premises at the peak hours of its business.

The anonymous caller told helpline Madadgar 15 that a bomb had been planted at the high court’s premises. He told that a bomb has been planted in some part of the high court’s premises and that it would go off anytime now. Following the bomb threat, extra contingent of the law enforcers reached the site and evacuated the premises to avoid any untoward incident.

Experts from the bomb disposal squad were also called at the site, however, the BD experts, declared it a hoax before clearing the premises after the searching for at least two hours and turned out to be a hoax.

Police officials said that investigation about to trace the caller were began following the bomb hoax, however, the police officials managed to trace and arrest the accused. The accused was identified as Pir Buksh son of Imam Buksh. Police officials said that his arrest was made during a raid conducted at Sawan Goth in Gadap Town.

Police officials said that the accused also admitted the crime saying that he had no intension to blast the premises, however, he did it as a joke. Police officials further said that the arrested suspect’s elder brother had been imprisoned for at least two years over the murder charge.

The police registered an FIR No 527/17 under Sections 25-D telegraph act and 7 of the anti-terrorism act against the accused at the Preedy police station while further investigation was underway.
