KARACHI -  Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Karachi is organising International Conference entitled “Diversity and Peace: Challenges to Social Discourse” from November 7-8, 2017 at KU.

According to the Dean, faculty of social sciences, KU Prof Dr Muhammad Ahmed Qadri, Faculty of Social Sciences aims to promote the culture of peace, harmony and prosperity through intercultural understanding, peace and harmony demands that we should appreciate the richness and beauty of diversity.

The conference would create a bridge between nations and remove stereotypes to save our social environment and international relations with reference to economy, politics, ethics, justice, peace and global mobilization. International scholars from Ukraine, Turkey, India, China and Germany will be participating in the conference.

The inauguration ceremony of the conference will be on 7th November at Arts Auditorium, KU. Minister of Education, Government of Sindh Jam Mehtab Dahar will be the chief guest. Renowned political analyst and Professor Emeritus, Punjab University Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi will deliver the keynote address while Vice Chancellor KU Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan will preside the ceremony.

“Pakistan is a very important member of the international community, not only a nuclear power but a staunch propagator of peace in the world which is evident by the contribution of Pakistani military in United Nations Peacekeeping forces. Pakistani nation is committed to propagate the message of peace and tolerance and the foreigners coming in our conference are affirming this message. The major motive of the conference is to promote a soft image of Pakistan,” said Dr Ahmed Qadri while giving a briefing about the conference.

The international conference will bring together researchers from multiple disciplines, academia and along with help of civil society and policy makers, consider how various aspects of social identity and social relationships can promote sustainable global peace.

The conference will be structured to lead to the production of a publication that will serve both as an important record of and statement on peace and conflict resolution in the world.
