ISLAMABAD - Former president Asif Ali Zardari said on Sunday that rulers were minting money as the people faced the energy crisis.

In a statement, the Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led government for false claims of ending load-shedding. Zardari said that on the one hand, the people were facing load-shedding of up to 20 hours and on the other, the rulers were busy in minting money through commissions.  “Every sector is facing crisis whether it be health or education. Nawaz (Sharif’s party) government is insensitive towards hardships faced by the people of Pakistan. More cases of corruption by the Sharif family and the ruling elite will soon be exposed,” he said.  The former president said that PPP faced victimization during all three tenures of Nawaz Sharif government but it got relief through courts.

“Now the Sharif family wants to avoid accountability in the garb of lame excuses but the people are well aware of their tactics. Sharif family will not succeed to hoodwink the people of Pakistan,” he said.

Zardari called for equal treatment in the accountability process. He accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan of promoting foul language in politics and harming opposition.   “Imran Khan is devoid of political acumen and his claims of change in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have been fully exposed. His style of politics is the biggest hurdle for change. People will reject negative politics of Imran Khan in next elections.

The PPP will win next elections and form governments in center and provinces,” he claimed.

The PPP leader condemned the Punjab provincial government for the ‘kidnapping’ of Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen leader Nasir Shirazi. “Punjab government is responsible for this incident,” he said adding the PPP demands his immediate recovery.
