KASUR-Workers at Dena Nath Sardar Textile Mills continued their protest against the mills management on the second consecutive day for non-payment of salaries.

They gathered outside the mills premises and chanted slogans for acceptance of their demands. Talking to The Nation, they said that they had not been paid salaries for the last two months. They claimed to lack resources to earn bread for their children who, “what they said,” are faced with starvation. They demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif look into the grave situation and resolve their problem at the earliest. The protestors, however, dispersed after being assured by police and the mills management of solution to their problems.

Man, woman robbed of

valuables separately

A man and woman were robbed of cash and valuables in two separate incidents here the other day.

According to police, Mehboob was on the way on a motorbike. Near Lahori Tube Well, he was intercepted by three dacoits at gunpoint who snatched the motorbike and cellphone from him.

In Pattoki, a motorcyclist snatched a purse from a woman, Shumaila, near Shadman Colony. The purse was carrying Rs7,000, a cellphone and other valuables. Police are investigating.

Two fake spice

factories unearthed

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) unearthed two factories allegedly involved in manufacturing of unhygienic chilly and spices at Punjab Small Industry area in Satellite Town police precincts. The PFA raiding team seized over 30,000 packets of fake chilly and other spices. According to the PFA, the spices had been prepared with the chemicals injurious to human health. Police registered cases against owners of both factories.
