Pakistan won its first medal at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi when Azhar Hussain bagged silver in the 55-kg wrestling event. Hussain lost to Indias Rajender Kumar in the final of the 55-kilogram event. Reigning champion Kumar successfully defended his title without conceding a single point in the tournament, making it four wrestling golds for the hosts. He dominated Hussain in a one-sided final of two sessions, winning 11-0 to roars of approval from the home crowd.
