PUNE (India) Australias Simon Taufel and Pakistans Aleem Dar are in contention for the ICCs Best Umpire Award for the current year. According to the Dubai-based sources, the four Elite Panel umpires have been shortlisted for the award winning night. Simon Taufel, Aleem Dar, Steve Davis (England born, staying in Australia) and Tony Hill (New Zealand) have been summoned to Bangalore (India) for the award night on October 6, it was learnt here. Taufel won the ICC Umpire of the Year Award in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. However, having been short-listed twice in 2005 and 2006, Pakistans Aleem Dar won the award last year. As part of the ICCs celebration of the games heroes and role models, it stages the annual ICC awards ceremony to recognise the major individual and team achievements in world cricket. The awards ceremony is now in its seventh year and the 2010 awards will take place in Bangalore on October 6. The event will be staged in association with Federation of International Cricketers Associations (FICA). Previous ceremonies were held in London (2004), Sydney (2005), Mumbai (2006), Johannesburg (2007 and 2009) and Dubai (2008). The ceremony features 11 awards that over the years have honoured some of the biggest names in mens and womens international cricket.
