Asif, Asjad in Ranking Snooker final


KARACHI - The Langnese National Ranking Snooker final will be all Punjab affair after M Asif and Asjad Iqbal of Punjab subdued their respective opponents in the semi-finals to set up a grand clash for the title here on Friday at the NBP Complex Clifton.
By virtue of being in the final, both the players have earned automatic selection in Pakistan team for the world championship. The best-of-13-frame final will be played today (Saturday).
In the first semi-final which went to 10 frames, M Asif overpowered Sohail Shahzad by six frames to four to snuff the hopes of Sindh player who had survived through the quarter-finals. The score in favour of Asif was 79-34, 52-65, 91-44(75), 34-84(78), 65-38, 70-50, 51-72, 70-76, 64-09, 58-29.
In the second semi-final, Asjad Iqbal ran through to an easy straight six frames to nil win over Shahram Changezi of Islamabad 72-35, 93-44, 79-09, 69-52, 68-50, 54-23.
