End differences, revive MMA!

LAHORE – The Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP) and Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith (MJAH) have asked the Jamaat-e-Islami and JUI-Fazl to stop issuing statements against each other and remove their differences for reviving the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
This appeal was made by JUP President Abul Khair Muhammad Zubair and MJAH President Senator Sajid Mir while addressing the media on Friday after the former called on the latter at his office to discuss ways and means to speed up the process of reviving the MMA.
JUP and MJAH leaders had formally agreed last week that the MMA should be revived even if the Jamaat-e-Islami and JUI-Fazl refused to join it. They had brought round the leaders of JUI-Sami and Tehrik Islami, the other two remaining parties of the defunct six party alliance, to restore the platform in view of the upcoming general elections.
On Friday, the two leaders reiterated that the MMA’s revival should not be delayed if one or two parties were against joining it for some reason. Talking to the media, Sajid Mir urged the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership to show magnanimity and try to end their differences with the JUI-F. JUP leaders Qari Zawar Bahdur, Pir Ijaz Hashmi; and MJAH leaders Abdul Razzaq and Rana Shafiq Pasruri were also present on the occasion.
