Lahore - District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal has given seven days deadline to the owners of the industrial units for installing fire extinguishing equipments with obtaining safety measures otherwise strict action of sealing these industrial units could be initiated with arresting them after given deadline

He stated that survey of industrial units located in residential localities of all nine towns of the city had been completed by the specially constituted 45 teams and.

DCO Lahore expressed these views while chairing a meeting about industrial units at Town Hall on Friday evening. MPA Kh. Salman Rafique, Sajjad Haider Dara, Assistant commissioners, TMOs, TORs, officials of Rescue 1122 also were present on the occasion. The DCO appreciated the role of survey teams in collecting the data and said that now policy would be made in the light of the collected data. He told the meeting that there are 7750 industrial units in residential areas and about 85 percent units are operating without safety measures while more than 350 units have been declared dangerous.as fire could erupt in these units, he added.

He directed survey teams to carry on their work and start checking from tomorrow whether the safety measures were being taken by factory owners or not.

Mengal also requested the civil society and media persons to cooperate with district administration in this regard.

The DCO also warned the officials to actively check the precautionary measures being taken by factory owners otherwise stern action would be initiated against them in case of negligence.
