KMU okays new courses



PESHAWAR - Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, approved four new courses for various disciplines of health education at different levels besides approving appointments of various officers against different vacant positions.
These decisions were taken in the 9th meeting of KMU Syndicate held here at Institute of Basic Medical Science (IBMS) under the chairmanship of Vice Chancelloir Prof Dr M. Hafizullah, while beside Registrar Dr. Fazal Mahmood and Director Academics Prof Dr Shad and others attended the meeting.
, Justice (Rtd) Qazi Ihsan Ullah Quarshi, Prof Dr Zahoor A Swati nominee of HEC, Prof Dr Tariq Saeed Mufti, Khawaja Yawar Naeer, Prof Dr Jawad Ahmad, Prof Dr Saleem Khattak, Prof Dr Abdul Waheed, Dr Shafiq Ahmad Tariq, Muhammad Bin Afsar Jan, Dr Brekhana Jamil, Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Additional Sectery Health, Additional Secretary Establishment, Additional Secretary Higher Education Deparmtnet and Dy Secretary Finance also attended the meeting.
According to details the Syndicate in its 9th meeting discussed a 20 points agenda along with 3 points supplementary agenda items. In order to meet the ever increasing demand for quality health care services to the community suffering from musculoskeletal and neuromuscular ailments lowers the burden of disease and its impact on economy, the Syndicate after thorough discussion had given approved of MS Physical Therapy program in two disciplines i.e. Musculoskeletal and Neurological disorders.
To coup with the obstetrical and medical complications during pregnancy and child birth and to over come the chronic non communicable diseases,the Syndicate okayed two years MPH program in two sub specialties which include Matetamal & Child Health and Non Communicable Diseases. The house was told that these programs would equip the health care professionally with the skills to plan, manage, evaluate programs, conduct research and be able to educate community as well as act as an advocate for the cause. To enhance the capacity of the teaching staff and to promote research culture in the health profession institutions, Syndicate approved certificate courses in health education professions and health research.
