PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that no objection certificate (NOC) has to be sought from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government before going to sensitive areas like Malakand and South Waziristan Agency. In a statement issued here on Friday, the minister said that they were a political entity and believed in political freedom, adding that they neither imposed restrictions on rallies and public meetings nor would now do any such thing. He said, “we grant NOC which only aims at bringing political activities on record, however if anyone does not care about the sensitivity of the matter and keep on political activities, then the provincial government would take care of its legal responsibilities.” He further said that political activities were a part of a democratic system and all political leaders including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan had the right to do so. He said however they all needed to cooperate with the government in view of the critical situation of the province. Meanwhile, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said teaching was a sacred profession by virtue of which, they could change their nation and pull it out of the quicksand of present situation. He expressed these views while addressing as chief guest at a function held in connection with the World Teachers Day in University of Peshawar on Friday. UoP Vice Chancellor, Dr Qibla Ayaz, UNESCO representative Irshad Ahmad Tirmizi, President PUTA Jamil Ahmad Chitrali, President FAPWASA Dr. Humayun, President Schools Association Haji Nisar, Dr. Arbad Afridi, Dr. Sara Safdar and Dr. Raj Wali Khattak also addressing the function which was held under aegis of PUTA and UNESCO. Addressing the function, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the role of teachers was very important and it had a direct impact upon the society. Qualities of teachers transfer to the society automatically adding that teacher was a teacher in any case. He said that without acquiring education we would not be able to make a respectable place for ourselves in the comity of nations. Referring to the mention of teachers strike on the eve of world teaches day, the Information Minister said that they should also keep in mind the future of Children and they should adopt another way for their strike. He said that problems of University teachers would be solved on priority basis and he himself would ask the Chief Minister as well as the Federal Government in this respect.
