ISLAMABAD - Driver-cum-guard of Chairman Ulema Council of Pakistan Maulana Tahir Ashrafi found himself in strange situation on Thursday night when he tried to drag his boss into the land cruiser when the latter fell down unconsciously at the gate of German Embassy. While Umar (driver of Maulana Tahir Ashrafi) was trying to help Maulana Tahir Ashrafi to be seated in land cruiser who mysteriously fell unconscious after coming out of German Embassy after attending a function, police official deputed outside Embassy thought Maulana was being kidnapped and swiftly reached the spot, dragged Maulana Ashrafi into their van and shifted him to Abpara police station. The police official did not forget to take alleged kidnapper to police station, said sources. The police officials had no idea that person they were shifting to Abpara police station was Maulana Tahir Ashrafi. “Police officials could only knew he was Maulana Tahir Ashrafi when an officer on duty in Abpara police station recognised that unconscious man was Ashrafi,” a source told TheNation. Police immediately shifted Ashrafi to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences and released the alleged kidnapper. Anonymous officials of PIMS confirmed to TheNation on Friday that Ashrafi was admitted to PIMS however he was out of danger. “It seems to be a case of food poisoning. He might have tasted western food or drink which landed him into state of unconsciousness,” a doctor of PIMS told TheNation on Friday.
