BAHAWALPUR - Protested stirred up as sewerage water entered into the houses in Basti Chanran, Maseetan and Ridaan causing severe damage to the constructions.

The protesters including Muhammad Afzal said that sewerage water entered into their houses due to which their walls are about to collapse which may cause loss of life and property.

Ghulam Yaseen, a resident of Basti Chanran, said, "We are poor people. Our homes have been destroyed due to the dirty sewerage water but the officials concerned do not pay heed to our repeated complaints."

Zahid of Basti Maseetan said that the clogged water might cause outbreak of contagious diseases like Malaria and dengue. The protesters made it clear that if dirty water is not drained out, they will block Chowk Fawara on Friday.

Meantime, MPA Haji Zulfiqar Ali reached the site and assured them that the water would be drained out soon.

XEN, SDO SENT HOME: Because of repeated complaints of inflated bills, Gepco Chief Gujranwala Mehboob Alam has suspended executive engineer Muhammad Safdar and SDO Ramzan Alam. He has appointed in place of the suspended persons Tanveer Ahmad Nagra as Executive Engineer Hafizabad division.
