PESHAWAR - In order to participate in Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf sponsored peace march to South Waziristan Agency, thousands of activists of the party will leave their respective areas on Saturday (today) for Tank and DI Khan to join the main procession under the leadership of Imran Khan.

PTI sources said the marchers, instead of congregating at a specific location, has decided that every district would arrange their own programmes under their local leadership and each provincial leader will proceed to Tank along with their specific workers from Peshawar city.

Talking to TheNation, former Information Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Zahid Hussain said that there is no chance of large scale participation from different districts that is why the party provincial leadership has decided to go in the shape of small rallies instead of huge one.

He said that as the days of elections are near that is why each nominated candidate for the slot of President has decided to join the march alongwith their own workers in separate rallies.

He said that each panel will lead their own workers from different localities of the City while his panel would first go to Lakki Marwat and then to Tank where they will join the peace march towards South Waziristan agency.

Meanwhile, leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Yaseen Khalil said that the step taken by his party has never been realised by other leaders in the past as they have no courage to go to war-torn zone where innocent people are being targeted in drone attacks.

He said if any one puts hurdle in the way of Tehreek-e-Insaf, then the activists of PTI are well prepared to remove those hindrances.

Activists of PTI from district Nowshera also vowed to fully participate in the rally.

Addressing a Press conference, PTI Provincial Finance Secretary Muhammad Ashfaq Piracha said that the rally of PTI workers from Nowshera will start their journey and would join the rally under the leadership of Imran Khan in district Tank.

He informed that the rally of PK-15 would be led by its President Fayaz-ur-Rahman while the rally of PK-16 would be led by Siraj Muhammad Khan.

Online adds: The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday dispatched a letter to the Peshawar corps commander, making a request for relaxing curfew in South Waziristan Agency (SWA). The PTI will rally from Islamabad to SWA on October 6 (today) against the US drone strikes in the tribal belt. KP Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain asked PTI Chairman Imran Khan to obtain an NOC from the provincial government.

“If (PTI Chairman) Imran Khan wants to hold a rally in Waziristan, he will have to obtain the NOC to enter Waziristan,” Iftikhar said in press release. “We’re politicians ... we believe in democracy politics ... we haven’t impose restrictions. But, the PTI is not ready to weigh warnings neither by the provincial government nor by the intelligence agencies,” he said.

However, PTI Information Secretary Shafqat Mehmood announced that they would go into Waziristan at any cost, “Rehman Malik is trying to mar their march,” he said, dubbing as baseless such reports.
