KARACHI – Bandits robbed a bank looted Rs 0.6 million located in Kimari area within the jurisdiction of Jackson police station.Police officials said that five dacoits riding motorbikes reached at the local bank branch. A bandit wearing security guard uniform stayed outside the bank and other were entered into the bank at 4:40 pm. Bandits held hostage the bank staffers and customers and looted Rs 05.46 million from the bank counter in a minute and managed to flee from the spot. According to witnesses, the dacoits knew everything about the bank. After getting information police and investigation teams reached the spot and collected the evidences from the spot.In another bank robbery attempt at the local bank branch situated in North Naizmabad, Sakhi Hassan within the precincts of Tehmuria police station bandits escape when they did not found cash.Police officials said that seven unknown bandits barged into the bank and held the staffers hostage but could not manage to rob. At that time, casher was not present there and the cash was in the strong room. Meanwhile, the IGP, Sindh, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, has called for ensuring the authentication of the particulars of all the private security guards under the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS).He was presiding over a meeting at the Central Police Office here on Friday.On the occasion he was also given a detailed briefing regarding the performance of the Forensic Division by the Additional IG CID Sindh, Munir Shaikh. Leghari directed that authentication of the particulars of all the private security guards be ensured. He said that all the security agencies in Karachi should be taken on board and be motivated for ensuring identification of the particulars of the private security guards under AFIS. The IGP further instructed that police should also approach residential societies in Karachi such as Defence Housing Authority etc for ensuring checking of the particulars of the domestic servants. During the briefing the IGP was informed that the Forensic Division Karachi under a pilot project authenticated the particulars of over 1,500 private security guards deployed at the banks and other financial institutions. Of these, the police statement claimed, there was criminal record of the 15 security guards. Forensic Division was preparing the data base of the finger prints.
