LAHORE - Lahore operations police yesterday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its two members involved in street crime incidents.

A police spokesperson said that a team of Shera Kot police arrested Javed alias Jaido and his accomplice Muhammad Liaqat during a raid near a graveyard. The police have seized five mobile phones and two pistols from their possession.

During initial investigations, the bandits confessed to the police their involvement in several incidents of street crimes.

The Operation wing of the Lahore police has launched a special crackdown to hunt down criminals suspects. The Monday’s raid was part of the police clampdown on the elements involved in armed robberies. A police official claimed that more arrests are expected in the days ahead since the suspects are being interrogated in connection with recent robberies.
