The members of a Punjab Cabinet Committee for Law and Order visited Gujranwala and reviewed the security arrangements for Muharaamul Harram.

They members include Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, IGP Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera, Home Secretary Azam Salman, Additional IGP Special Branch Faisal Shahkar, Commissioner Gujranwala Shamail Ahmed Khawaja, RPO Waqas Nazir, DCOs of all the districts and Ulema attended the meeting.

Sana that code of conduct be observed strictly and no one be allowed to play with the lives and properties of the citizens. He urged the religious leaders to help the local administration maintain peace during Muharram. He said that the government had taken stringent measures to maintain peace during the month. He said that it was religious and moral obligation of Ulema to promote the message of peace and harmony through their speeches and sermons in congregations. He emphasised a need for coordination among the administration and Ulema to maintain law and order. He further said that no person shall be allowed to spread rumours and disinformation or make hate speeches to create tension. Display of arms, firecrackers, explosives of any kind and ammunition at public place would be forbidden. He directed the police and administration to ensure foolproof security arrangements and deployment of the police force at Imambargahs and with mourning processions. The Ulema said they would extend full cooperation to the administration to ensure peace during the month.
