At least 12 persons including a couple, their two minor sons and two teenage siblings were killed in different road accidents on Monday.

In Sheikhupura, four persons including a couple and their two sons were killed in collision between a car and truck near Khanqah Dogran Interchange on motorway on Monday. The deceased couple was identified as Muhammad Awais, his wife Samia Bibi and their two sons - Azaan and Kamran.

In another incident that occurred near Bhikhi area on Faisalabad Road, two siblings were killed. The accident occurred when a speeding mazda pick-up crushed the motorcyclists, killing Faisal, 20, and Saba, 18, instantly. Their sister Maria, however, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Similarly on Lahore Road, 15 people were injured when a passenger van overturned due to over speeding. The injured were rushed to hospital where condition of some of the injured is stated to be critical.

In Lodhran, a woman and her minor girl died and seven others injured in collision between passenger coach and a trailer on Multan Road on Monday.

In Toba Tek Singh, a minor girl died and another sustained injuries when a speeding coach ran over them in Pirmahal the other day. Both deceased - Fakhra Bibi and her sister Sameea Bibi were crossing Pirmahal-Kamalia Road near Chak 668/9 GB. All of sudden, a speeding coach hit them, killing Fakhra Bibi on the spot. Her sister sustained injuries and was admitted to Pirmahal THQ Hospital.

In another incident, a motorcyclist died when his bike hit a footpath on Rajana Road. Deceased Numan of Chak 329/JB Risala was on the way to Toba when the motorcycle rammed into footpath and then into a pole near District Council Complex. He died on the spot.

In Kasur, a woman and her three-year-old child were crushed under the wheels of a trailer on Multan near Kharryala Waltoya area of Pattoki on Monday.

The ill-fated woman and child were on the way on a motorbike being ridden by Ali Raza. When they reached Kharryala Waltoya, dopattha of the woman Parveen entangled in the rear wheel of the bike due to which it skidded of the road. As a result, the couple and their child fell on the road. In the meanwhile, speeding trailer ran over the woman and her child, killing them instantly. However Ali Raza miraculously remained unhurt. The Pattoki Saddr Police have registered a case.

‘Outlaw’ killed in shootout


A ‘wanted dacoit’ was killed in a shootout with police in Mauza Bait Bagh Shah, some 110 km away from here early Monday.

The outlaw identified as Muhammad Sajjad alias Bori was involved in more than 30 cases of heinous crime including dacoity, murder and firing police.

The personnel of Khairpur Sadat and Kundai police launched a joint search operation against the Jaka Gang on the bank of River Indus.During the search, the outlaws started firing on the police which they retaliated and a shootout ensued. The crossfire continued for two hours and as the firing subsided, the police went forward and found a dead body in the jungle. The outlaw was later identified as Muhammad Sajjad alias Bori who was wanted by the police in dozens of cases of heinous crime.

According to DPO Muzaffargarh Awais Malik, deceased Sajjad was a hitman and had been involved more than 30 cases of heinous crime. The police registered a case against the dacoits and constituted three teams under the supervision of SP (Investigations) for the arrest of the fleeing accused.
