LAHORE -  Imad Wasim has preferred to represent Islamabad region, turning down all the lucrative offers of different banks and departments.

According to reliable sources, Imad Wasim was being offered very lucrative jobs by different banks and departments of the country, but the flamboyant all-rounder turned down all such highly-paid offers preferring to represent Islamabad region in domestic cricket.

Imad has scored 3,563 with an average of 41.91 in as many as 73 matches. His best score is 207 and he has slammed six centuries and 19 half centuries. He is also handy with ball as he has clinched 134 wickets in 73 matches with 8-81 is his best bowling. Imad remained instrumental in all the three departments against England in England while he also performed exceptionally in the Twenty20 series against the West Indies.

The sources said that it was a very good omen that at domestic cricket level, Imad had been giving top most priority to his region, turning down highly-paid jobs offers in the national departments.

Junior selection committee head and SNGPL head coach former Test cricket Basit Ali said that it was the wish of many of the players to represent any department or bank, and from that platform, they managed to book berth in the national team, but Imad’s case was entirely different. “Imad has been with his region since he started playing professional cricket and representing his region, he has managed to get place in Pakistan cricket team.”

Another source closer to Imad has told this scribe that the all-rounder had believed that his region had supported him right from his professional career, and whatever he was, it was all due to his the sincere efforts of his region officials and high ups, so for him, representing his region in national events was a great honour for him, and he would continue doing so. “Not only in the previous season, but this season too, Imad has got a number of very lucrative job, but he turned down all such offers,” the source added.
