ISLAMABAD - Parliamentary Committee on Appointment of the Chairperson of the National Commission on Status of Women yesterday confirmed name of Khawar Mumtaz for appointment as its chairperson, said a handout yesterday. The meeting was chaired by lawmaker Tehmina Doultana.

The agenda of the meeting was to hear and confirm the nominations received from the Prime Minister.

The chairperson briefed the committee with reference to nominations made by the Prime Minister in consultation with leader of the opposition.

The committee having discussed and considered the nominations with consensus confirmed the name of Khawar Mumtaz for appointment as chairperson of the National Commission on Status of Women.

The committee decided to forward the name to PM for the final approval.

Earlier, the house business advisory meeting under the chair of speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq decided to hold the joint session for two days. It was decided that Prime Minister will address in the beginning of first day (Wednesday). It was also decided that all heads of parliamentary parties will address the session.
