6 killed in separate incidents

JHANG - Six people were killed and more than a dozen others injured in separate incidents here on Monday. In the first incident, one Saleemullah was shot dead by his father, Muhammad Nawaz Sial. There was a land dispute between both father and the son in Chak 461 in the precincts of Mochiwala police station. A near relative tried his level best to settle the dispute but all in vain and ultimately it resulted in the death of Saleem. In the second incident, passer-by Muhammad Akmal was killed in cross-fire and stone pelting between two rival groups at Ayub Chowk here. Moreover, five others from both the sides including Ghulam Jafar, Ijaz, Shahid Ali, Aftab Ahmad and Imran received serious injuries and were admitted to the DHQ Hospital Jhang. The Katawali police have registered a case and investigating. In another incident, Muhammad Younas of Mouza Dhoariwala in Qadarpur police area committed suicide over marriage. Likewise, an 11-year-old girl, Rubab Khalil, was killed and her father Khalil Ahmad, mother and another lady were injured when a fast-moving rickshaw hit in the rear of their motorbike near Mouza Jamali of Jhang-Shorkot Road. The Injured were admitted to the DHQ Hospital. The police have arrested the rickshaw driver. Separately, 50-year-old Ali Abdullah, a resident of Mouza Kuriana, was hit by a speeding vehicle on Jhang-Chiniot Road. In another similar incident, one Allah Dittah, a kiln worker of Mouza Choukan, was hit and killed by a speeding motorcycle. PROTEST: Hundreds of people from Rodu Sultan and 18-Hazari were taken to the streets and protested against the 18-Hazari police and blocked Jhang-Muzaffargarh Road for hours. According to sources, some two weeks ago, a 20-year-old girl was abducted by some influential people of the area and the police could not recover the girl and even did not arrest any of the accused. On the other side, Jhang DPO Mazhar Farooq Khan has taken notice of the protest and directed the 18-Hazari SHO to immediately arrest the accused and recover the abducted girl.
